The Girllustrators is an all female illustration group in Austin, TX. They asked me a couple of questions a few months ago about how I use technology in my illustration work. The interview came out yesterday and I am so honored to be in company of such amazing illustrators like Melinda Beck, David Kirk, Stephen Savage... Star struck!
Nothing better than start the year working! I'm illustrating a series of 4 books for Chronicle Books, one of my favorite publishers and dream client. The first two will be out December 2012, I've been working all holiday on final art for the first two! Meanwhile... countdown for the Goodnight Safari launch, check out a sneak peek video here:
...is a brand new publisher that will focus on digital experiences for kids, I illustrated their Goodnight Safari book app that will be available soon! Yes, of course I will keep you posted, meanwhile check their website for a preview! http://www.polkstreetpress.com/apps-books/goodnight-safari
I will leave you with this nice warm day of an illustration, San Diego today woke up cloudy and in the 60s! (mind you, I'm not complaining, I am not a big fan of heat)
This is a project for Hasbro, I did art for this teddy bear's packaging. The illustration itself ended up being minimal on the final product, so I am showing some versions of earlier concepts.
So glad I got to finish this project before the end of the world tomorrow! ;) These guys are part of a puzzle I did for a client that has been a dream of mine for a long time! It will be out next year!
well, not really, after all this is San Diego, but this week gave us the closest we can get to a blizzard, 2 inches of rain! let it rain, let it rain, wish it was snow!
A preview of a book I illustrated for Pearson called "Tiny mouse, roaring lion". It looks like a great day to go fishing and looking at the clouds... until the clouds start to look like huge roaring animals ready to eat you up!

I am originally from Brazil and moved to the US in 2002. I have been a professional illustrator for about 14 years. Clients include Scholastic, Pearson, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, McGraw-Hill, Hasbro Toys, Crocodile Creek, Polk Street Press, National Geographic School Publishing, Random House and Chronicle Books.
I have worked with all kinds of media but eventually settled with the digital brush, I love the freedom it allows me and all the possibilities of experimentation. Represented in the literary market by Deborah Warren and Rubin Pffefer - East West Literary Agency.
